Plagiarism Policy

The Black Sea International Journal of Social Sciences is committed to maintaining academic integrity and adhering to the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. By submitting their manuscripts, authors declare that their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism or any form of academic misconduct.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person’s ideas, data, text, or visual materials as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. It may include:

  • Copying text or sentences without citation,
  • Using others’ ideas or findings without acknowledgment,
  • Using figures, tables, or data without permission,
  • Rephrasing another’s work without proper citation.

2. Prevention of Plagiarism

All manuscripts submitted to the journal are checked for plagiarism to ensure academic integrity:

  • Authors must provide complete and accurate citations for all sources.
  • Each study must represent an original contribution to the field.
  • All manuscripts are screened using iThenticate (CrossRef Similarity Check).
  • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 27% are rejected before peer review.
  • Authors may be asked to submit their plagiarism reports if necessary.

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected, the journal will:

  • Reject or withdraw the manuscript,
  • Notify the author(s) and, if necessary, the affiliated institutions,
  • Act in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

Plagiarism undermines trust in scholarly communication and damages the integrity of academic research. The journal adopts a zero-tolerance policy against such practices.

4. Plagiarism Detection Tools

  • CrossRef Similarity Check (iThenticate) – The official detection tool of the journal.
  • Turnitin, PlagScan, Unicheck, Grammarly, and Copyscape may also be used for preliminary checks.
