Today, everyone agrees that Turkish texts written in the Arabic alphabet should generally be transcribed (in the Latin alphabet). Over the last twenty years, a trend has emerged to focus on the 16th-century Ottoman period.1 During this period, some scholars have emerged asking, "Why should transcription be done?"2 regarding the problems of transcription. But in my opinion, the answer is in favor of transcription, because, as Sir Gerard Clauson said, "the editor's job is to find solutions to various problems and not to put the burden on the reader."
Günümüzde, Arap alfabesiyle yazılan Türkçe metinlerin genellikle transkripsiyonlu(Latin alfabesinde) olarak yazılması konusunda herkes hemfikirdir. Son yirmi yıldırOsmanlının 16. yüzyılı üzerine bir eğilim başlamıştır.1Bu dönemde transkripsiyonproblemleri ile alakalı olarak “Niçin transkripsiyon yapılmalı?2” diye soran bazı bilimadamları ortaya çıkmıştır. Ama cevap bana göre transkripsiyonun lehindedir, çünkü SirGerard Clauson’ın da dediği gibi, “editörün görevi çeşitli problemlere çözümler bulmak vesorumluluğu okuyucuya yüklememektir.”
